Murder in the Mews is a collection of four Agatha Christie stories that all feature Hercule Poirot, the Belgium detective who is perfection personified. The four stories in this collection are:
Murder in the Mews
In this quirky, locked-room mystery, Poirot must answer the question, 'How did a woman mange to commit suicide by shooting herself in her left temple, while holding the gun in her right hand?' The answer will surprise you, just as it did Chief Inspector Japp...
The Incredible Theft
This strange tale revolves around a ghost who seems to be fond of stealing secret military documents. Is the ghost really a ghost, and if the ghost isn't the thief, just who is? Some very high ranking officials are counting on Poirot to find the culprit, and to get the documents back.
Dead Man's Mirror
In structure and length, Dead Man's Mirror is more of a novella than a short story. It is a locked-room mystery in which Poirot's host, Sir Gervase Chevenix-Gore is found shot to death in his locked study. It must be suicide, mustn't it? Not necessarily according to the quick-witted Poirot, whose only clue that Gervase's death wasn't a suicide is a broken mirror.
Triangle at Rhodes
The final tale in this collection, is short and to the point. Poirot is on vacation in Rhodes, and as always he is finding it difficult to give his little grey cells any time off. He foresees trouble brewing among the guests staying at his hotel, and his premonition comes all to true when one of the guests is murdered. Can Poirot separate the participants from the spectators in this grisly case?
All four of these stories are well-paced, and they can be devoured all in one gulp, or rationed out over time, allowing you to treat yourself with a quick story whenever you get the chance. Throughout, Christie's writing is superb and logical, and you cannot help but hold your breath as she sends Poirot through his paces as he unravels this series of mysteries. In short, Murder in the Mews offers up a superb collection of Poirot stories that will delight mystery fans of every ilk.
