Prose, Poetry, and Westerns - if it was written by an American author, and published sometime before 1920, odds are that you will find it on Seedy Press' American Literature CD. Containing over 380 books, this CD features a cross section of American Literature, running the gamut from the works of Louisa Mae Alcott to the works of Zane Grey.
Many of the authors included on this CD are household names, such as Horatio Alger, Jr., Willa Cather, Kate Chopin, Stephen Crane, James Fennimore Cooper, Frederick Douglass, Theodore Dreiser, Edith Wharton, Mark Twain, Edgar Allan Poe, Herman Melville, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Robert Frost, Bret Harte, and O. Henry, to name but a few.
In other cases, it may be that you have heard or even read the book - but are unfamiliar with the authors names, such as with titles such as,
Two Years Before the Mast (Richard Henry Dana)
Twice-Told Tales (Nathaniel Hawthorne)
Washington Square (Henry James)
Babbitt (Sinclair Lewis)
The Jungle (Upton Sinclair)
Up From Slavery (Booker T. Washington)
No matter what you are looking for, this CD has something for everyone. A complete list of all the titles contained on this CD can be found online at:

All the material on this CD is in a plain text format, making it readily accessible by most screen reading programs. As well, this CD ships with DLJ Software's Readit program. This is a shareware, dos program, that allows you to bookmark you place within a text. As well, it allows for quick and easy navigation among the various files, and may be especially useful for visually impaired readers.
This CD runs off of any Windows based PC, however you do need to have a web browser (such as Internet Explorer or Netscape) and/or a Windows based word-processing program such as Microsoft Word, or Corel's Word Perfect, in order to read the text. Once the text is opened, you can enlarge the font to suit your reading needs.
Seedy Press offers a number of literature CD's, and I have been greatly impressed with all of them, including this one. The books on this CD cover the breadth of American literature, while most are well known classics, others are hard to find masterpieces that you will find both edifying and entertaining. The cost for this CD is a mere 29 dollars - about the cost of one hardback book. For the cost of this one book, you have access to over 380 books. Best of all, being on CD, the books takes up almost no space at all!
