The Hadley school offers free distance education courses to eligible individuals. These courses run the gamut from academic courses such as The Human Eye, Effective Braille Reading, and Basic Conversational French to 'fun' courses such as the Birdsong Tutor
and Container Gardening . If you, or a family member is blind or suffers from a visual impairment, or if you are a blindness professional, you may be eligible to take some of these wonderful courses. The teachers are friendly and the courses practical and fun. Many of the courses can be taken for high school credit, others for Continuing Education credits. As well, most of these courses are available in a variety of formats including large print, on audio cassette, and in braille.

This is an online reference room that enables visually impaired and print disabled individuals to email any questions they have to a reference librarian, who will answer their questions, usually within 48 hours. Patrons can also 'chat' live with a reference librarian. This service is being offered by a group of talking book libraries.

Formally knows as 'The Jewish Braille Institute' this organization offers a variety of services to Jewish individuals that are blind, visually impaired, or reading disabled. Their efforts span the globe and they try to meet the religious, educational, and cultural needs of those with vision problems. They also operate a multi-lingual, free, lending library that offers a wide selection of braille, audio, and large print books of Jewish interest.

Online Programming for All Libraries (OPAL)
Sponsored by the Illinois Network of Libraries Serving the Blind and Physically Handicapped, OPAL offers individuals the opportunity to participate in online meetings and library programs that run the gamut from Book Discussions and Online Interviews to Writing Workshops and Online Tutorials. These programs are held in chat rooms that are accessible to the visually impaired.
