Way of the Peaceful Warrior is one of those strange books that doesn't seem really all that important when you first read it. However, as time passes, you soon come to realize that the book has had a profound impact on your life. This rather eclectic story follows the adventures of Dan Millman, a world champion athlete and a University of California student. Millman feels that there is something missing in his life, but he doesn't know exactly what it might be or how to find the illusive 'it'. That is, until Millman meets Socrates at an all-night gas station in the waning days of 1966. A very old man, Socrates becomes Millman's mentor and friend and leads Millman on a mind altering, spiritual journey that will forever change his life.

Along the way Millman meets and falls in love with Joy, a woman who is as eccentric as Socrates and who will likewise have a profound impact on his life. Listening to and internalizing Socrates advice on just about everything from gymnastics to how success is measured, quickly changes Millman's mind set and how he looks at himself and the world about him. As you read this book, you'll find that Socrates's words will have a similar impact on you, guiding you toward a more uncomplicated and happier life.

Written in the form of a fictional story, but supposedly based upon real events and people, Millman's book is a dynamic and often humorous guide to spiritual enlightenment.
