Dealing with chronic physical pain is difficult enough if you are an adult. Imagine how much more difficult it is for a child who is unable to articulate the full extent of their pain, due either to their age or lack of experience to fully explain what they are feeling in a manner that an adult would empathetically understand. Worse, until quiet recently, children were often under-treated for pain by the medical establishment because children reacted differently and they express their pain in ways that are uniquely different from most adults. Knowing that your child is in constant pain can be both infuriating and frustrating. You are understandably angry that something has happened that is causing your child pain, and frustrating because you feel incapable of easing your child suffering.

One of the best ways to help your child and ease your own fears and frustrations is to become as educated about your child's condition, and pain management in general, as you possibly can. This will enable to you to become an authoritative advocate for your child. In regard to learning about pain management, an excellent place to start your education is with Dr. Elliot J. Krane's book, Relieve Your Child's Chronic Pain - A Doctor's Program for Easing Headaches, Abdominal Pain, Fibromyalgia, Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis, and More. Written with Deborah Mitchell, this book was written in non-technical jargon and is designed to educate the reader about the types of chronic pain children suffer from, how to recognize when they are in pain, and the various methods of pain management that are available.

Dr. Krane is a specialist in pain management for children and he is the director of the pediatric pain clinic at the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford University. He brings his extensive professional expertise to this book, and in addition to providing clear medical advice also provides practical advice on pain management techniques that you can easily practice in your own home.

Relieve Your Child's Chronic Pain is divided into three main parts. Relieve Your Child's Chronic Pain is an excellent resource for anyone dealing with this difficult situation. The text is easy to understand, and filled real-life stories of children and their families who have had to deal with chronic childhood pain. More important than just explaining the types of chronic pain commonly experienced by children or how this pain can be treated, this book illustrates that there is hope and that this pain can be managed successfully. Relieve Your Child's Chronic Pain is a book that will empower parents to take a prominet role in their child's pain management and an active role in their child's recovery. Highly recommended. The only drawback to this book is that it is only available in standard print at this time.
