Want to look younger, feel better, regain your vitality, and as an added bonus lose weight? If so, Dr. Frank Shallenberger thinks he has found the way. Dr. Shallenberger, a board-certified physician in anti-aging medicine believes that there are eight secrets to improving your energy levels, and your health. They are, simply: water, rest, sunlight, supplements, food, exercise, breathing right, and bio-identical hormonal replacement. In his newly revised edition of his best-selling book, Bursting with Energy Dr. Shallenberger explains how to incorporate these 'secrets' into your life and daily routine, as well as examining the role that energy levels play not only in aging and the disease process, but the role that it plays in weight gain and other common ills.
At its heart, Dr. Shallenberger's theories seem to center upon the fact that Western Medicine tends to treat the human body like a mechanical machine, one that can be 'fixed' by the introduction of foreign parts, chemicals, or pharmaceuticals. These methods, while successful at treating the symptoms of chronic diseases, seldom work as a cure for these conditions. Dr. Shallenberger's aim is to 'fix' the body by following the original human 'blueprint' and using only natural ingredients to repair any damage that exists, and to go to the root cause of a given problem and try to provide his patients with a cure, not simply to control their symptoms.
One of the keys to Dr. Shallenberger's approach is the process of bio-energy testing, by which a person's energy quotient (E.Q.) is determined. Dr. Shallenberger goes into detail about what bio-energy testing is, how it is carried out, and how it provides essential information about a person's metabolism. Dr. Shallenberger discusses the various toxins that can accumulate in a human body, and the steps that you can, and should take, to detoxify your body. He also explains the advantages of detoxifying your body, both in terms of your energy level and your overall health.
Throughout, numerous case studies are provided that help to illustrate the benefits of Dr. Shallenberger's program, and how traditional doctors often fail their patients. Dr. Shallenberger also discusses what he feels are medical myths, such as that eating fat is bad (he thinks it is good, as long as they are natural fats and not hydrogenated fats), or that drugs to lower cholesterol are good (Dr. Shallenberger feels that they do more harm than good). In all cases, Dr. Shallenberger explains why he thinks that these misconceptions exist.
Bursting with Energy is an intriguing book. Even if you do not accept all of Dr. Shallenberger's theories, he still provides a great deal of useful advice, such as those related to the benefits of eating right, exercising, and getting adequate amounts of sleep, will go a long way in helping you to feel better and to have more energy. It also makes sense, at least on an intuitive level, that if you have more energy, your health will improve and you will tend to lose weight because you are more active. So on those grounds alone, I highly recommend this book. As well, if you are interested in the new age 'energy theory' phenomena, or simply in investigating an intriguing alternative medicine avenue, you will find this book of great interest. Dr. Shallenberger writes with a clarity that indicates that he knows what he is talking about, and that he seems to really believe in this methodology and theories.
Bursting with Energy is available from Read How You Want, an on-demand publisher that makes books available in a variety of formats including Braille, DAISY, and five different large print formats that range from 16-24 point fonts.
