Patriotism: Quotations from Around the World is a slim volume of quotes, edited by Herb Galewitz. As the title suggests, the quotes in this book were written by authors from around the world, as patriotism is a sentiment that knows no boundaries.

In all, this Dover Thrift Edition contains more than 400 quotes. Most are uplifting and show the authors love for their countries, others can more aptly be classes as truisms, such as Charles C. Pinckney's "Millions for defense, but not one cent for tribute."

Some of the quotes you will find in this volume include:
Patriotism is easy to understand in America. It means looking out for yourself by looking out for your country. - Calvin Coolidge.

There is no "Republican," no "Democrat," on the Fourth of July - all are Americans. All feel that their country is greater than party. - James Gillespie Blaine

Men love their country, not because it is great, but because it is their own. - Seneca.
>From witticisms and satire to provocative utterances, this collection will prove a useful reference book for students and anyone looking for a handy quote to add to a speech, paper, or item that could benefit from a memorable quote. The entries in this volume are arranged alphabetically by author.
