I Like You is a laugh out loud book by Amy Sedaris, co-creator of the hit show, Strangers with Candy. Subtitled Hospitality Under the Influence this delightful book contains a host of tips on how to deal with an irksome hostess, as well as on how to organize a party, handle your guests, what to make for your dinner, and a handful of do-it-yourself projects that actually work! One of my favorite tips in this audiobook is: "Try filling your medicine cabinet with marbles. Nothing announces a nosy partygoer more successfully than an avalanche of marbles striking a porcelain sink." You get the idea! In addition to having written this practical guide, Sedaris is also the reader of the audio edition of the book. Her reading is right on, and her wise cracking tips are delivered with aplomb and sagacity.

I could go on at length on the material contained in this audiobook. However, I could never do it justice. You'll just have to get the book for yourself so that you can enjoy these wonderful tips - and be sure to do so before your next party as you'll certainly want to incorporate some of her advice into your party planning. On the other hand, if you're not big on giving parties, get this book anyway. You can share the tips with your friends, learn how to be a better guest, and learn important skills such as how to pick out gifts for those hard to please recipients. In addition, this audio edition of I Like You also includes some tasty recipes that you'll surely to want to try. The recipes are contained in the 'bonus material' CD, and they are on PDF files, in a file titled 'data'. On my computer, a PC running Windows XP, I was able to access this file by right clicking on my CD drive icon, then clicking 'explore'. This brought up the data file and button for a Macromedia Flash Player. If you click this button and launch the player, it will also give you access to the PDF files.

I give I Like You two thumbs up! This is one of the funniest books that I've listened to in a long time. Sedaris' sense of humor is a bit twisted, which adds some extra spice to this unexpectedly useful and practical guide to being a good hostess. Oh, yeah, in regard to those hard to please gift recipients - try this book, you can't go wrong... assuming of course, that they have a sense of humor!
