In Grammar Snobs Are Great Big Meanies: A Guide To Language For Fun & Spite, June Casagrande offers listeners an irreverent and often sarcastic tour through the realm of grammar, and those who claim the right to dictate what is right and what is wrong when it comes to word usage, punctuation, and sentence structure. Casagrande, a grammar columnist with the Los Angeles Times, uses humor to explain the ins and outs of grammar, and how tiny mistakes can totally alter the meaning and content of a sentence.

If you've ever wondered where to put the apostrophe when making those pesky possessives, what exactly a subjunctive is, or when to use who versus whom, this is the book for you. Organized into pithy chapters, this book can be used as a pseudo-textbook or simply as a diverting means of whiling away a few hours.

Shelly Fraser's sharp and vivacious reading of this unabridged audio edition of Grammar Snobs Are Great Big Meanies is a pleasure to listen to. The text is resplendent with words being spelled out, grammatical examples, and punctuation details which could have made this a difficult book to listen to. However, Fraser's reading is robust and articulate, and it fully captures Casagrande's sense of humor and witty repartee.

Grammar Snobs Are Great Big Meanies is an excellent and entertaining way of learning, or simply reviewing, the fundamentals of English grammar and punctuation. Better yet, in addition to the unabridged text of this book, this audio edition also includes a selection of 'bonus' materials that consists of several of Casagrande's articles that appeared in the L.A. Times Daily Pilot, including Heard the One About Adverbs? and Pardoning Presidential English.
