Scratch Kitten rides again in Scratch Kitten Goes to Sea, a charming children's tale about a kitten who goes to sea and has many adventures as he works to make a name for himself as a ship's cat. However, Scratch doesn't get his job the honest way. Instead he stows away on the Silk'n'Spice, a tall-rigged vessel bound for the South Seas. Scratch hopes that once he proves his worth, the sailors will forgive him for being a stow-a-way. Scratch has many hair-raising adventures as he learns all about living and working on a ship. To earn his keep, Scratch starts working for Peg-leg, the ornery ship's cook. When a mouse turns up in the Captain's stew, Scratch learns that sailors are not a very forgiving lot, and Scratch and Peg-leg are set adrift in a small dinghy as punishment. Will they ever reach dry land? Or will they be rescued by a friendly ship, or by pirates? Oh, no, to find out you'll have to read the next book in this continuing series!!
