James Patterson is in top form in 7th Heaven, his latest edition to his best-selling Women's Murder Club series. In this new volume, co-written with Maxine Paetro, the shrewd women of the Murder Club are faced with discovering the truth behind the disappearance of Michael Campion, a teenager with heart problems, as well as dealing with a terrifying spate of deadly arson attacks and murders. As the investigations progress, Campion's case takes a deadly turn, as does the hunt for the arsonist. For those not familiar with this phenomenal series - and its associated tv-show, the members of the Women's Murder Club are Police Lieutenant Lindsay Boxer, San Francisco Chronicle Reporter Cindy Thomas, Claire Washburn, a medical examiner, and Assistant District Attorney Yuki Castellano (who replaced Jill Bernhardt in 3rd Degree). Brought together by crime, these highly intelligent women have a knack for catching the bad guys, while having to deal with all of life's normal quirks and foibles.

While all four women are present in this book, 7th Heaven, the story tends to focus more upon Lindsay and her burgeoning relationship with her police-partner, Rich Conklin. This is a fast-paced, memorable mystery that is part police-procedural, part traditional-mystery, and part soap-opera. This audio edition of 7th Heaven is read by Carolyn McCormick. Her reading is dramatic and gripping, and she gives each of the women in the Murder Club a unique voice. If you are already a fan of the Women's Murder Club series, you will not be disappointed with this offering. Patterson has created a well-crafted, and mesmerizing tale that really makes you care about the characters. If this is your first introduction to the series, you are in for a treat!
