Sam wants to build a robot, and not just any robot. He wants to build a killer robot, and he gets the opportunity when he discovers that boxes of 'Bisky Bricks' contain a robot part inside each box. All he needs to do now is to get ahold of enough boxes of 'Bisky Bricks' to get all the parts that he needs. While Sam thinks that building a robot is a capital idea, his dog Moriarty knows better... and Moriarty is proven right when the robot, even before it is fully assembled, starts to exhibit some very strange behaviors, as does Sam's uncle Andy and his dad!
Could the strange behavior of the humans, and the robot, be connected to the unusual lights that were seen the in the sky the night before Sam started to build his robot? And what about the strange lights emanating from beneath his uncle's store? Why does Moriarty get so agitated every time he gets near the robot parts? What does he, a mere dog, know that the human's don't? Discover the answer to these questions, and more in Sam and the Killer Robot by Judith Rossell.
Sam and the Killer Robot is a fun book to read that might well give you a good case of the giggles. It will also make you think about what you might do, should you ever build a robot that seems to have a life of its own. Suitable for kids in grades +/- 4-8, this book will also attract the interest of older readers as well, who will be enthralled by the story's mysterious subplot (what is it about all the weird lights), and by Sam's adventures building his robot, and then dealing with it once starts acting on its own. Sam and the Killer Robot is must-have for both home and school libraries.
