Lifeguard is another romp with James Patterson pulling all the strings. This engaging whodunit concerns an art heist and murder. Ned Kelly, (not the famous Australian outlaw) has a teaching degree from Boston University, but he is working as a lifeguard, pool boy, chauffeur in Palm Beach. He works for a very rich and extremely influential individual, Sol Roth.
The colorful cast of characters include; Tess MacAuliffe a beautiful mysterious woman with whom Ned spends a passionate afternoon; Ellie Shurtleff, an FBI agent; a gang of petty thieves, who are Ned's best friends; Geoff, a motorcycle champ; Ned's mother, father and brother and the elite of Palm Beach society. Mix these interesting folks with a six million dollar art heist and you have a whale of a tale.
I found the art references to Pollock, Monet, Van Gogh and other artists, to be very interesting and informative
Billy Campbell gives a superb read and the sound effects and musical accompaniment adds to the dramatic impact.
