In the The Merciful God of Prophecy, LaHaye offers his analysis of biblical prophecies and what it means for man. However, rather than focusing on the negative aspects of Armageddon, LaHaye looks at the positive aspects of the 'end times' and how it represents a unique opportunity for man to form a closer relationship with God.
Throughout this work, LaHaye emphasis the hope of salvation, and how in times of distress God is there to comfort those who believe in him. He also explores the role of prophecy throughout time, and the biblical prophecies that are yet to be fulfilled. He also strives to show why prophecy is important, and why you, as the reader, should take a personal interest in it. His main thesis presented in this book is that God is a god of mercy, and he backs up his assertion with quotes from the bible.
Interwoven into LaHaye's narrative on biblical prophecy is also an ongoing commentary of the Left Behind series that helps to explain the prophetic basis for many of the actions and events that turn up in the series. For fans of the Left Behind series, this book will help to highlight the biblical teaching and message presented in the series.
This inspirational book is well laid out and organized into topical sections such as Seven Reasons why Prophecy Matters and Jesus' Scariest Prophecy: The Great Tribulation. The book also includes a question and answer section of the study of biblical prophecy, plus a discussion guide to the text.
