A Knock at Midnight is a collection of phenomenal, original recordings, of sermons given by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. from the pulpit of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. Each sermon is preceded by an introduction from such illustrious personages as Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Bishop T. D. Jakes, Rev. Dr. Otis Moss, Jr., and Rev. Billy Graham. These introductions not only serve to introduce each sermon, but they also offer insights into both King's life and works. This collection also includes an afterword by Clayborne Carson and Peter Holloran that explains how this collection came into being.

The sermons that you will hear in this collection are: These recordings let the listener step back into time and hear just what a great orator and spiritual leader Dr. King was. A Knock at Midnight has also been published in a print format. However, reading these sermons in no way comes close to the impact of listening to these exhilarating words and of hearing them spoken by the very man who wrote them and who knew just how to pace his rendition to get the biggest impact from his audience.

These eleven sermons are fervent examples of Christian theology, and their power lies in hearing them as they were intended - from start to finish. Listening to these sermons you are sure to recognize passages and quotes that have been in circulation for years, however these passages and quotes are often presented out of context. Listening to the complete sermon, you not only gain a greater understanding of King's message, but also of the impact that religion had in his advocacy for social justice, and his efforts on behalf of the Civil Rights Movement.

A Knock at Midnight offers listeners an unprecedented glimpse into the life and times of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. These sermons with inspire and awe you, and they will fascinate anyone with an interest in King's life, Christian ministry, and the cause of social justice. A must hear!
