Join Hal Spacejock, an erstwhile spaceship pilot and his loquacious and long-suffering robot, Clank, as they travel through the universe righting wrongs, wronging rights, and generally getting into as much trouble as they get out of. In their latest adventure Hal Spacejock: Just Desserts, Hal and Clank are once again on the look out for opportunities that will make them rich. The get-rich schemes that they tend to stumble upon have a habit of not being very effective. So once again finding themselves on the brink of bankruptcy, they accept a dubious gig transporting a mysterious cargo to an area that in hindsight, they would have been better off avoiding. However, when you are in dire need of money for such necessities as candy, fuel for the ship, and most important, coffee, you tend to find that you don't ask a lot of questions when someone offers you a job. This is, however, a job that will have repercussions that even the know-it-all Clank cannot imagine, including a meeting with a beautiful girl who might not be who she appears to be on first meeting.

Just Desserts is the third volume in Simon Haynes adventure series featuring the daring adventures of Hal and Clank. Jocular and someone satirical, Just Desserts is a rollicking space opera that is sure to delight fans of both serious and humourous science fiction. If you are new to the series, you'll be pleased to note that Just Desserts can be read as a stand-alone book, or as part of the series. This is a book to be read purely for fun. If you are looking for a challenging book or something with an intricate plot, you will need to look elsewhere. But, if you just want some diverting fun - this book is sure to please for not only is it filled with wry humor, but also with a nice assortment of bad guys, including a couple of mercenaries, some interesting gadgets and mechanical beings, a few interstellar fights, a smattering of political intrigue, and a wide assortment of edible fare ranging from cold-cuts to protein supplements, and yes, even a few desserts have been added to this spirited space opera.
