If you ever even thought of writing for children, you'll want to take a gander at The ABC's of Writing for Children, compiled by Elizabeth Koehler-Pentacoff. This book offers hundreds of tips, quotes, and insights on writing for children that are both entertaining and informative.

The book consists of 46 chapters, in which 114 different authors and illustrators of children books talk about the art and the craft of writing for children. They also delve into the business end of writing for children. While the bulk of the material in this book is slanted toward writers, illustrators will also find a wealth of useful advice and insights into the field of illustrating children's books.

The chapters in this book are organized by topic, and rather than containing a single essay on each topic, each chapter includes a myriad of short passages and quotes from a variety of writers and illustrators, giving you a broad feel for the topic under discussion. In addition, the book contains several in-depth pieces that feature prominent authors such as Chris Crutcher, Sid Fleischman, R. L. Stine, and Jane Yolen.
