Part of the A Best Half of Life Book series, Time to Write is an inspirational and educational guide to fulfilling a dream, starting a new hobby, or even starting a second career, as a writer. Time to Write is a comprehensive beginners guide to becoming a professional (i.e., a published writer) written by a man who has been there and done that! Milligan, who worked in federal law enforcement made a complete turn around in his life and embarked upon a new career as a writer. He has since published numerous works of both fiction and nonfiction, and has taught both creative and business writing. He also holds a Master of Arts in Writing from Johns Hopkins University.

The information in this book is divided into six main sections:
  1. Becoming a Writer
  2. Getting Ideas from Your Mind onto the Page Without Losing Either
  3. Grammar and Usage Refresher
  4. Writing Techniques
  5. Forms of Writing
  6. Publishing, Freelancing, and Going on From Here
If you ever thought about writing, now is the time to do it. In Time to Write, Milligan explains why starting a writing career after 50 can be more rewarding than starting one at a younger age, and how your age is actually a benefit to your writing. As well, he provides a solid foundation upon which you can build a successful and fulfilling career as the writer you always wanted to be. Milligan covers just about everything you'll need to get started writing fiction, nonfiction, or poetry. In addition he offers advice on everything from finding the time to write to how to format your finished manuscript and everything in between, including writing realistic dialog and building your own writer's toolbox. Although this book was written for the over fifty crowd, writers of all ages will find this book not only educational, but inspirational as well. After all it is never too early, or too late, to start writing!
