So you want to write, but aren't sure how to get started? Then look no further. In Bill O'Hanlon's book, Write is a Verb he offers all the guidance and encouragement you'll need to start writing - and to keep writing. O'Hanlon is a psychotherapist and a writing coach. He has also written more than 25 books. In this rousing book he does not lay out a strict regiment of rules you must follow. In fact, you not find any rules in this book. Rather he helps you discover the various writing methods and styles that are best suited for you. He also helps you to discover what it is that will best motivate you to write - and how to harness your own personal goals and desires to keep your writing.

According to O'Hanlon, to be a writer you don't have to be a natural born writer, or even a good writer - but you do have to write! And this book will get you writing. O'Hanlon helps you to identify your writing goals and how to craft a realistic plan to get you from first idea to published book.

The chapters in this book are short, and highly motivational. O'Hanlon tackles just about everything from how to draw on your own strengths and overcoming writer's block to how to avoid common writing traps that will sabotage your writing - such as being a perfectionist. He also offers advice on a range of topics from how to find the time to write to marketing yourself and your writing.

Throughout this book, O'Hanlon has included a host of writing exercises that will motivate you and help you to discover your inner writer. Also included is an hour-long writer's workshop (on DVD) conducted by O'Hanlon along with four instructional podcasts. The DVD also includes all the worksheets found in the book, as well as additional worksheets and handouts from O'Hanlon's renowned week-long writer's boot camp.

Write is a Verb is essential reading for anyone out there who wants to write, but just doesn't seem to have the umph to get started, as well as for anyone who is writing but who wants to make the transformation from just being someone who writes, to being a writer, and preferably a published writer. This book is suited for both fiction and nonfiction writers, and all writers yet to be. As O'Hanlon says, "You can do it!" and he'll show you how.
