Writer Mama: How to Raise a Writing Career Alongside Your Kids, Christina Katz, is a unique writing guide in that it not only examines developing your writing career, but also how to do it under the pressures and time constraints of raising children. Christina Katz is an experienced, professional writer, who is also juggling both a writing career and children, so she knows from where she speaks! While most of the writing aspects of this book deal with nonfiction article writing, Katz also tackles the writing of nonfiction books, children's books, and general fiction. She also tackles the business side of writing from writing cover letters and setting up a home office to setting up a website and dealing with editors.

This book is, at its heart, a guidebook that will help you organize your writing career. Within the pages of this book you'll discover a plethora of tips on both writing and child rearing. For example there is an excellent tip (read trick) for getting your kid to brush his teeth! The chapters in this book are short and to the point, and they are enhanced with informational sidebars and practical exercises. The sidebars run the gamut from bullet-points on formatting queries and cover letters to tips on how to handle paper overload (and organize your office while you're at it). As for the exercises, they not only help to reinforce the information presented in the book, but they will also help you to improve your writing skills.

Writer Mama is a wonderful resource, both as a writer's reference and as an inspirational book that will help you get your writing career on track - and keep it there. While the primary audience for this book is women who are writers and raising children, this book will also be a boon to work-at-home writer dads, as well as anyone looking for some succinct and practical advice on writing.
